The Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria (hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties),
desiring to facilitate travels of their citizens and to develop friendly relations between the two countries,
have agreed as follows:
Article 1
Citizens of either Contracting Party holding valid travel documents, as specified in the Annex to the present Agreement, shall be free to enter the territory of the other Contracting Party at any authorized border-crossing point and to stay there for a period not exceeding 90 (ninety) days during 6 (six) months without being required to obtain a visa.
Article 2
Citizens of either Contracting Party, who wish to enter the territory of the other Contracting Party, for a period exceeding 90 (ninety) days or for the purpose of employment or studies, with the exception of the case referred to in Article 3 of this Agreement, shall obtain the necessary permit from the competent authorities of the other Contracting Party before their arrival.
Article 3
1. Citizens of either Contracting Party holding valid diplomatic, service or other national passports exercising official functions in the territory of the other Contracting Party as members of a diplomatic mission, consular office or international organization shall be exempted, after notifying the Receiving Country, from visa requirements for entry and stay there for the period of their exercising official functions.
2. The same arrangements shall be applied to family members (husband/wife and children living in common household) of persons mentioned in the precedent Paragraph.
Article 4
The present Agreement does not release the citizens of either Contracting Party from the obligation to respect the laws and regulations in force in the other Contracting Party.
Article 5
Either Contracting Party reserves the right to refuse permission to enter or stay in the country to persons considered undesirable.
Article 6
The authorities of either Contracting Party undertake to readmit without formality, into its territory, any of its citizens.
Article 7
1. The Contracting Parties shall exchange the specimens of their valid travel documents through diplomatic channels not later than 30 (thirty) days before the entry into force of the present Agreement.
2. If either Contracting Party modifies its travel documents or introduces any new travel document after entry into force of the present Agreement, it shall provide the other Contracting Party with the specimens of such documents through diplomatic channels at least 30 (thirty) days before they are introduced.
Article 8
Either Contracting Party may temporarily suspend the foregoing provisions in whole or in part, except Article 6 thereof, for reasons of national security, public order or public health. Such suspension shall be notified immediately to the other Contracting Party through diplomatic channels.
Article 9
The present Agreement is concluded for an indefinite period. Either Contracting Party may terminate it at any moment with a 30 (thirty) days previous notice in writing through diplomatic channels.
Article 10
The present Agreement shall enter into force on the date of the receipt of the latter note by which the Contracting Parties notify each other of the fulfillment of all internal legal requirements necessary for its entry into force.
Done at Ljubljana on 5th November 2001 in two originals, each in the Slovenian, Bulgarian and English languages, all the texts being equally authentic. In case of any difference in its interpretation, the English text shall prevail.

For the citizens of the Republic of Slovenia:
(a) Passport;
(b) Diplomatic passport;
(c) Service passport;
(d) Seaman’s book;
(e) Emergency passport.
For the citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria:
(a) Passport;
(b) Diplomatic passport;
(c) Seaman’s book;
(d) Temporary passport for return to the Republic of Bulgaria.
