The Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt (hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties) for the purpose of developing the traditional relations between the peoples of the two countries, wishing to strengthen and promote the trade relations between two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, have agreed as follows:
Article 1
The Contracting Parties shall take all necessary measures to encourage, facilitate, strengthen and diversify commercial and trade relations between the two countries, in accordance with laws and regulations in force in both countries.
Article 2
Import and export of goods and servicies shall be effected through contracts concluded between natural and legal persons of the two countries on the prices and standards of the international market.
Neither of the Contracting Parties shall be responsible for the obligation of natural and legal persons resulting from their contracts.
Article 3
The payments between the two countries shall be effected in free convertible currencies in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in both countries, with the possibility for natural and legal persons in both countries to use also other ways of payments to be agreed upon through their contracts.
Article 4
The Contracting Parties shall make effort to promote trade between the two countries including establishment of joint ventures, commercial centres, transit-trade and other different ways and means of cooperation.
Article 5
The Contracting Parties shall encourage and facilitate participation in international and local fairs and exhibitions held in their territories, in accordance with the regulations in force in their respective countries.
In this respect, the Contracting Parties agree to exempt the goods for fairs and exhibitions, which are not intended for sale, from custom duties and other similar duties in accordance with laws and regulations in force in their respective countries.
Article 6
The Contracting Parties shall, in conformity with the laws and regulations in force in their respective countries, allow the export and / or the import of goods exempted from taxes, custom duties and other duties under temporary admission system.
Article 7
Both Contracting Parties shall encourage the cooperation and the exchange of visits between the chambers of commerce, chambers of industry and other similar organisations, as well as between businessmen of both countries.
Article 8
To encourage implementation of this Agreement and determine ways and means of promoting and developing trade relations, the Contracting Parties shall establish a Joint Trade Commission composed of representatives of their respective authorities (hereinafter reffered to as the Commission).
The Commission shall meet at the request of either party alternately in the Republic of Slovenia and the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss problems which may arise during the implementation of this Agreement, adopt recommendations and proposals to further develop commercial exchanges, solving the problems in connection hereto.
Article 9
Disputes related to the explanation, interpretation and implementation of the provisions of this Agreement will be settled through negotiations or by recognized methods in the international law.
Article 10
The provisions of this Agreement shall continue, even after its modification or termination, to govern contracts concluded within its framework and during its validity.
Article 11
This Agreement is subject to approval in accordance with laws valid in both countries and shall come into force on the date of last notification, by which the Contracting Parties inform each other about fulfillment of legal procedures concerning the ratification of this Agreement.
Article 12
This Agreement is valid for a period of two years and shall be automatically renewed for periods of one year each, unless either Contracting Party informs the other by a written notice to terminate it three months before the expiring date.
Done and signed in Ljubljana on 12th March 1997 in two originals in the Slovene, Arabic and English languages, both texts are equally authentic. In case of discrepancies, the English text shall prevail.
