PROTOCOL
on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Turkey
The Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Turkey,
desirous to further develop their political, economic, cultural and other relations to the mutual benefit of their peoples,
guided by the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations, the Helsinki Final Act, the Charter of Paris for a new Europe and other CSCE documents,
reaffirming their devotion to the universal principles of sovereign equality, inviolability of frontiers, territorial integrity of all states, non-interference in the domestic affairs of other states, refraining from the threat or use of force, peaceful settlement of disputes, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms,
cognizant of their common interest and responsability in the construction of a new Europe based on the respect for democracy, human rights, the rule of law and privacy of the individual,
determined to develop cooperation and good relations among their countries and peoples,
desirous to establish the Balkan region as a zone of peace and stability and fully aware of the vast economic opportunities offered by increased cooperation among Balkan countries,
the Parties have agreed to establish diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level as from the date of the signing of this Protocol in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
